Anyone ever been to mexico?

My friends are planning a trip to cancun next spring and I would like to go but from what I heard, you have to be very careful down there. I never been out of the country. Has anyone ever been to cancun? What can I expect?

I was when I was 19. It was fun, you just have to make sure you follow their rules and don't do anything offensive and you will be fine. The sunsets are amazing so make sure to catch some of those.

I went 2 times, once with family and another with friends a few years back. They only say to be careful now because of all the bad stuff happening down there. As long as you stick to public areas and don't venture too far South you will be fine.

I've never been myself. I have been to Canada and Jamaica though.
