I think she did like him but the teasing bothered her. It is hard to believe but there are a lot of women out there just like this.

Agreed.  The whole strategy when finding a woman is expressed: to find a woman with less shallow friends.  Beware of the "sisterhoods".

I think it is a bit of both. She wanted someone taller only because her friends rejected the idea of her being with someone shorter so she put her feelings aside because she wanted to be liked by people. It is sad but a lot of people do this, both men and women.
