Something I notice at my college is how a lot of guys will form height cliques.
This isn't something that is blatant or consciously intentional (or maybe it is), but it happens.
It might be the friendship version of what I've read about assortative mating. Almost like another hierarchy.
I'm not counting athletes hanging together on campus and not ignoring guys who may have been friends since childhood or through work.
In the general sense, it's just something I notice. It's almost as if it's beneath them to hang with people who are much shorter than them. When I go to campus parties or some social events, outside of people who have common interests, new friendships tend to form this way.
To some extent, it was even like this a bit in high school.
Does anyone else notice this?
Not sure if short men everywhere are supposed to rejoice for this, but this is how it's being posted on social media, most likely because of concern-trolling.
You can find the New York Post article here.
Dude has to be 5'6-5'7. That's my guess. This should have been a poll!
I'm about to enter my Junior year now and can speak to this with some experience. It seems that dating in college isn't that "hard". There are tons of women who are only into the athletes and tall emo guys. Some of them have made catty remarks to me and it never lands well. I don't go along with it though and call them out each time.
But there are also women that are into the things that I'm into. I like gaming and picked up guitar (I've gotten quite good at playing chords and singing while I play), so have joined a few clubs and have had quite a few interested in me. I had a few dates in May and June and have been dating this one pre-law major since the beginning of July. We're not committed, but we enjoy each other's company.
What I'm learning is, that common interests is where I do best, but judging by what people say here, it's "because I'm in college". We'll see.
