Why is that whenever I read articles in print and online or hear people talk about shorter people in person, they always undercut a man's accomplishments by pointing out his lack of stature?

If i understand it correctly you mean that, if a guy have achieved something great in life, they point out that he is short. Like "well done for a short guy".
To which i can only agree is discriminating.

Not just "discriminating", but humiliating. Can you imagine if I spoke about Obama and then said "well, yeah, but he's a black guy". Come on.....

I see this literally whenever they talk about someone who is short. Like when Prince died, they always write things such as "with his 5'2 physique" and "I can't believe it with those little limbs" or something to that effect.

And just as bad is when the media refers to Michael J. Fox as a "pint-sized Clint Eastwood."
