He says if you're short, you need to accept reality

And I don't disagree with him. The gym is the greatest equalizer for your health and mental acuity. With all else equal, it will get your foot in the door where the opposite would not.

No, it will not change heightism, but being in shape in better than not being in shape.

Says being short means its easier to gain muscle. Truth or cope?

Is this real with tangible benefits or just a cope and hype?

I have few buddies who workout together, different heights and it didn't seem like one had more trouble gaining muscle over the other.

5'6 calls in for dating advice. Don't be this guy.

Complete embarrassment. Height is the least of his problems.

The gym should obviously be one of many things on his list.

Don't be this guy.

Women react to the physique of 5'5 Mr. Olympia competitor Ruff Diesel

Self-Improvement will always give better results than staying where you are. This guy is what a lot of ladies would call "average-looking", but his dedication to his physique and success gives him a major edge. I absolutely believe that most of these reactions are genuine.

Big chest and shoulders make us look shorter?

Anyone else feel this way? I have a naturally wide chest and shoulders and large calves. I workout regularly to maintain definition, but am blessed in the sense that I have naturally what I hear a lot of my guy friends spend hours trying to achieve in the gym.

I've been told by others (women, taller men) that working out to gain a bigger chest makes short guys look even shorter. While I like the way that I look and am overall confident, I'm wondering what everyone's take on this is. Do any of you avoid gaining mass because of that point of view?

Don't forget to train those forearms in the gym fellas

I remember being much younger and having extremely thin forearms. One of my crushes in high school joking said she could probably break my arm in a fight to which at the time, she might have been right!

Reverse wrist curls with dumbless, grip strengtheners and regular wrist curls will do the trick. Start with a weight you can handle and over time increase the weight and set. Always maintain proper form to avoid injury (I am NOT your trainer). That is what will make the top of your forearms pop.

There is a lot of talk about how big shorter guys should let their upper body or muscles get. Don't listen to any of them. Do what works for you and what makes your satisfied. It's your body.

How often do you work out and what are your fitness goals?

A few questions:

• How often do you work out?

• What are your fitness goals?

• Does your height affect how much muscle you wish to put on if you're working toward increased mass? Do you care about your proportions?

Lifting weights

This is where biology comes into play and your observations are not unfounded. I too noticed in my weight lifting days, I would get "challenged" or "side-eyed" by taller men. I wouldn't call it intimidation, but more so "stepping on their turf". Us shorter men regularly get accused of being "insecure", but most of the time, it's usually others being insecure. The "stepping on their turf' equates to also stepping out of our lane.

6'2 Arnold Schwarzenegger and 5'5 Frank Colombu

They were best friends apparently, and when Schwarzenegger married Maria Shriver, Colombu was his best man.

Weightlifting won't make me shorter right?

Will intense weightlifting make me look "shorter" because of the added bulk? I've heard girls say that short guys who lift weights are overcompensating and a friend of mine who is 5'5 lifts weight has bulk and people call him "bulldog". Which body type compliments us more? Short/Skinny or Short/Muscular?

Martial Artists! Difference fighting people larger/smaller than you?

How do you have to adjust yourself in fighting larger or smaller opponents? I want to get into Tae Kwan Do and have asked but those who I've asked act oblivious to height as if it doesn't matter. I can't imagine it does.
