The reason behind the modern obsession with height in dating
I've said this a million times. Today's individual is severly overweight to the point where if you look at television 30 years ago, people who were called "fat" look skinny behind today's standard.
Since they want to look small next to their man, they'd have to pair up with someone significantly taller to offset their tonnage.
What I can't stand is when height insults are dismissed as a joke
Does anyone notice this? Especially in work-related or peer group settings, insults about someone's height are passed off as a "joke", and if you speak up on it, you get told that you're sensitive. How sway?
If you take any height joke and put any other quality about someone, weight, complexion, income, education, those become fireable or otracizeable offenses. "It's just a joke bro".
Whether it be in the movies, online, in print or viewable media, just the sheer idea that someone is short is somehow "hilarious".
It's become normalized.
You could say I don't find the humor in it because I am short, but you could say the same to anyone who is the recipient of any insult.
Something I notice at my college is how a lot of guys will form height cliques.
This isn't something that is blatant or consciously intentional (or maybe it is), but it happens.
It might be the friendship version of what I've read about assortative mating. Almost like another hierarchy.
I'm not counting athletes hanging together on campus and not ignoring guys who may have been friends since childhood or through work.
In the general sense, it's just something I notice. It's almost as if it's beneath them to hang with people who are much shorter than them. When I go to campus parties or some social events, outside of people who have common interests, new friendships tend to form this way.
To some extent, it was even like this a bit in high school.
Female guard lets 6'10 murderer out to "have new life" with her
You literally cannot make things like this up. Of course, you'll hear "height doesn't matter". Maybe this guy takes a lot of showers and touches grass and that's why he's being obsessed over, even though he comitted murder.
The gaslighting is terrible. Imagine for a second if a man said to his girlfriend or wife that she wasn't pretty, but he loved her personality, and he had a problem with this.
Now imagine someone telling her that her mindset was terrible if she was mad about it. After all, it's what's inside that counts right?
