Height differences by country

Why are most serial killers tall?
Did a bit of noodling around online after watching a documentary about Edmund Kempner who was 6'9 and found that the majority of mass murderers with few exceptions (i.e. Charles Manson, famously listed as 5'2 but was actually a bit over 5'6) were all quite tall, as in significantly taller than average. Any idea why that might be? And isn't it interesting that us shorter men are the ones typically portrayed as being "angry men"? Here is a quick list: 1. Edmund Kempner (American Serial Killer) - 6'9 That is quite the extensive list. And I know there are exceptions, but the vast majority were tall or at the bare minimum, slightly above average. This list could easily hit 75 if I started at 5'10. |

Article says dating apps have a women problem, not a Gen Z problem

According to this article, only 18% of women believe dating apps have had a positive impact on society and 79% said that they are not interested in using those apps in the future AND are more likely to believe that dating apps have NOT improved their outlook toward relationships. The question is why? I bet we have our own opinions. Let's hear yours. |

Women NOT willing to date shorter men up almost 20% since 2013
This survey, administered annually by Singaporean dating and matchmaking agency "Lunch Actually" shows a sharp increase in women becoming more strict and narrow on their height preferences as compared to men during the same period. Short woman uses data to "prove" they do not have it easier in dating
A woman in this particular sub-reddit goes on a rant and pulls data to prove that "short women don't have it easier in dating" which apparently "men say constantly". The whole post and replies are laughable at best as their data shows exactly what we say. Their beef it seems is that they aren't getting as many dates as women who are average height, but if you look at the charts they attached to their post, they still have way more dates than average height men. For example a 5'3 woman has 82% potential matches, almost as much as a 5'10 guy and 5'3 is still under average height for a woman. On top of that, according to this data, a 5' woman has almost as many matches as a 5'8 guy. Don't get me started on the guys 5'6 and below. What exactly was she trying to prove here? I'll tell you what. She's only upset that she's not able to have the same success with tall men as women who are taller than her.... but, there is a whole sea of short guys she could date......b-b-but she doesn't want "them" lol. Why some tall parents have short kids
From what I gather, I most likely won't have a surprise late-bloomer growth spurt, but as I've said before, I am shorter than my father and the same height as my mother (maybe a smidgen less), so I am one of those less common cases where I end up shorter than both parents are close to my mother's height. It's usually taller than both or in between right? But then there are those, I think of celebrity kids who end up much shorter than most people would think. Look at Michael Jordan's kids. They're both considerably shorter than he is with both of them being around 6. I think one of them is 6 even. Well, that regression toward the mean might just be it. I always hear women running from shorter guys claiming they don't want short kids, they end up having a kid by a taller guy and then what if the kid doesn't grow to be as tall as they'd like. I've seen people talk about Will Smith here. His son is about 5'6. Yes, Jada Pinkett-Smith is only 5'1, but that regression toward the mean probably means that chasing height really isn't that serious. You could both be short and still have a tall child and vice-versa. |

86% of women claim to want complimentary partner. Data says otherwise.
According to a study printed by publication FiveThirtyEight, 86% of women claimed to want a partner who "compliments" them rather than "resembles" them. Data they pulled from over 1 million matches from the website eHarmony while examining 102 traits said otherwise. Men were satisfied with an 80% similarity in looks, interests, education, creativity and income, however women were far more strict. The review of data was done in 2014. Attractiveness By Race. Is Perceived Height A Factor?
Data from a study conducted by Ok Cupid in 2014, revisited from 2009. You can see that white women are rated highest by all men (slight negative expression from Black Men). Black women take the back seat from all men (the least negative expression is from Black Men, though it's still in the negative). From all women, white men are preferred by far with the exception of black women. Black women give a slight nod to Asian men. White women prefer their own with Latinos getting some grace. I would bet that is because there are many white passing Latinos. Some conjecture online from Asian men is that they believe that their perceived lack of height (older stereotype) might be the culprit, but it wouldn't explain why Black men are rated lower when they don't hold that same stereotype. Here is an example of this conjecture on a reddit post. I would be great to see a 2024 update, especially with all of the political shake-ups which have taken place since then which might have an effect on opinions and perceptions.
