You say you're in decent shape, but what is your body type? Skinny, Muscular? It has an effect.

Rule of thumb, if they're faded, over-worn then faggedaboudit.

For winter, you can get away with wingtips, oxford which you say you own and a nice crisp button down.

Pick up a pair of Chelsea boots and you can rock a turtle neck or a nice fitted shirt.

Pick up some crisp monochrome kicks and you can add a sports coat or blazer.

I'm big on the latter.

No doubt this happens, but this is why you have to vet the women you date.

Especially if you're a younger guy, you have to learn to detect whether a woman really likes you or wants you just for your attention, time or worse, money.

It's like the old saying, "When you first meet someone, you're meeting their representative".
