I am project manager at my company. I am not a manager outright, but am the one in charge of setting up and overseeing projects. I report to my supervisor. Because I am small, I have to deal with colleagues pretending they didn't hear me, ignoring some of my orders and sometimes backtalk. I notice taller project managers do not deal with this near as much.
I am not a jerk by nature, but feel as I have to be sometimes and I know this has a lot to do with my height. How does one deal with this effectively without having to constantly whine to their supervisor? I am afraid doing so will make me look weak and affect my performance reviews. The point is making colleagues respect you and your title.
Some people can take growth hormones? The FDA has approved growth hormones for use in kids even if they don't require it. It's lead to a slippery slope with many parents giving their kids they stuff creating a height race which is horrible.
Once your bones have ossified (growth plates) growth is IMPOSSIBLE short of limb lengthening surgery, which could lead to all sorts of joint problems, lost wages and limited mobility later in life. Would you risk all of that for an inch or two max?
I would recommend checking out the RSX. It is an excellent car for guys our size. It's small, compact and great on gas. I used to live in Los Angeles where parking was a real thorn in the rear, but somehow, I'd always manage to find parking because I could fit in the tightest of spots with that whip.
Plus, you can get it in leather, it has a rear windshield wiper, you can remove the backseat and make it a hatchback, and they all come stock with a Bose sound system. They don't make the car anymore. It was discountinued in 2006, making it a real bargain right now. I would go with one of the 05-06 models as the body design looks more modern. However, if I had to get a brand new car today. I'd probably go with the Civic becuase it is the closest thing to the RSX. Both are made by Honda, so you know they're going to be reliable.
Holy cow, the CEO of Goldman Sachs is only 5'4! Even though most CEOs are above 6', he made it!
