Google says he's 5'7.5 and possibly 5'8. You also have to keep in mind that he was from an early generation when the average height was a little shorter than now. Also, he's Chinese and from Hong Kong which is shorter than mainland China. 

 

At his time, he probably wasn't short.

Most sites list him at 5'6. I don't think this "earlier generation" stuff is important. 5'6 was still considered short (even by the Chinese) when he was alive.
