Does it hurt more to be just below the norm, or way below it?

I was reading something and found it interesting. It said that a man who is 5'4 is more likely to accept his height than a man who is 5'8 because the shorter man is further away from the most acceptable height. So in other words, a man who is close to being a desired height of 6', just being short of it, is harder to take then being far away from it. Thoughts?

This is like saying you lost 50 pounds and are only 10 pounds away fro your goal weight. You are so close it is upsetting you that you haven't reached it yet.

People that view things this way are the same ones who take things and people for granted.

You can't really compare weight to height though. You can lose weight just as you can gain weight, you can't do that with height. So to me, this comment makes no sense to what Dez was talking about.

I think that being shorter is worse. Some one is 5'9 compared to someone who is 5'3... Lets be realistic, the shorter man would have it way harder. I am just under 5'9 and while I have issues I don't struggle nearly as much as someone a lot shorter than me would.

This is what I was thinking. I mean I have seen men who were 5' even and I couldn't imagine being that short. I am short as it is. No offense to anyone out there that height but damn. I don't know if I could cope.

I think as you are shorter you might suffer your being more based on your thoughts and personality. There are men who acquire great height but feel insecure deep inside.

This is true. A woman that I know recently complained that she left her 6'3 ex because he was deeply insecure often asking questions about past boyfriends, and apparently had a small you know what. So you can be tall and still not be happy.

I know what you're saying. Being close to the socially "desirable" height is sort of like a carrot on a stick feeling. Ultimately who feels worse is entirely dependent on the individual. I'm not happy about my height, but, honestly when I see guys who are significantly shorter than myself, I feel ungrateful and ashamed of myself for complaining. There are guys at my gym that work very hard, and have great physiques, but, very short, small persons. I feel even worse for them because they are much younger than I, and I know it will be a tough road for them.
