I'm 5'7, but would rather be 5'8. Sounds cleaner.

I'm comfortable being my own height. Wouldn't want to be an inch taller.

I am in my late fifties now-- too late to have the life I wanted as a normal size man.  I would have loved to be anywhere in the oblivious zone - about 5'10" or so.  That would have allowed me to live an entire adult lifetime not being the shortest guy (5'4") in almost every social situation since age 15, along with all the grief that has accompanied it.

Yes, but you've lived a unique life with a different perspective on things. Do you have any kids? It's interesting that you're bothered by your height. A lot of people I know in their 50s, "grew into" being comfortable with it but I understand. When you're short you learn how to see the superficiality in how people interact with one another when it comes to appearance.

Yes, actually I've led quite a fascinating, unusual life, but only because I have refused to be held back by my short stature.  I am a bold, often intense, highly energetic, and bright guy.  But, I cannot imagine ever feeling at ease being short.  yes, it's who  I am, but...  Well, I am happily married - 31 years - to a wonderful woman who loves me for my integrity, wit, and talents, and couldn't care less that I'm the little guy in every crowd.  We have 3 wonderful grown kids - a petite, cute daughter, a son 5'11", and one 5'9"-- both are successful military men, and I am so relieved that they are normal height.  Being the short guy all the time has forced me to focus on an array of other attributes and develop them.  But, honestly, I don't see myself ever linking being short - to me it will always be a negative thing and a huge disadvantage.

I think 5'7" would be my ideal height.  Combining the average heights for men and women, 5'7" puts me closest to average height for "humans".  Since we live in a world full of manufactured and construction items that are designed for the average human, most items would be sized perfectly for me.
