Double Standards
You can't make this up
post #1

A morbidly obese women wins a beauty contest (???)  which is bad enough but then is rabidly defended by the media for "standing up" to her critics!  meanwhile, the same media & other institutions have no qualms about publicly ridiculing & demeaning short men in commercials, news stories, talk shows, movies & TV shows.

for example, i don't seem to recall anyone defending the bagel guy in NY for trying to stand up for himself when he was being bullied & physically assaulted.  in fact, many people blamed him for expressing his frustration about how he is treated as a short man and instead, he is labeled as a short, angry, bald man in need of  therapy. the epic hypocrisy of  so called "body positivity" is palpable.

A complete abomination. Was it an all male panel who voted for her? Is there some equivalent contest where they would majority vote some 5'2 guy into being the "sexiest man alive". The only way this could be is if he was immensly talented and had god-like looks. Even then, there would be people snickering (Prince comes to mind).

Seriously, if some panel unanimously voted sincerely for her to win this pageant, that's one thing, but we know this was straight up virtue-signaling. If this were the 80s or 90s, the results of this pageant would've been dragged as a complete laughing stock.

even just 10 years ago this would have been a story on The Onion as opposed to a real news headline. what would happen if an equally obese guy entered a body building contest?  at the very least he would be shamed & ridiculed and labeled as delusional.

just imagine how the other women in the pagent who worked so hard to get where they are feel about losing to her.  such insane nonsense makes me believe that we are on the cusp of societal collapse when people are praised & rewarded for their extremely unhealthy lifestyles.
