I heard this all of my life growing up from my parents and nothing happened. In school I would bother the lunch lady for more milk cartons, ate lots of dairy products and played soccer. Well, nothing happened. No growth spurt. When will they stop telling this lie to kids?
TL;DR Santa, the toothfairy and this are the 3 biggest lies parents tell their children.
In every pic I've ever seen, MLK looks about 5'5 at most to me.
Media messages, and maybe what they witnessed as children/teenagers in grade school/high school? When you grow up seeing people treated a certain way maybe it sticks with them. Though I think it's part of a larger, broader social problem. Heightism has a lot to do with it.
I just finished my degree in computer science and am now going to Job Fairs to look for a position in IT. I've been to a few job fairs and amidst all of the people who get into conversations with the employers at the booths, interest seems to disappear when it's time for them to talk to me. I notice that some of my taller competitors don't get that look of disappointment. I have great credentials. Any advice so I can stand out from my peers?
