In my opinion the man is wrong of course, but we know what the answer would be if a guy lied about his height and ended up actually being taller. Or if a guy lied about living modestly and turned out to be wealthy.
My high school sweetheart was 5'6 and most of my boyfriends were 5'8 and under. I prefer being eye to eye and being able swap hoodies when I have a partner. We do exist and I don't believe that we're that uncommon.

I was not meant to be short, doctors stole my height.
Ok, long story short, I always had nasal obstruction, because my septum was deviated. My mother had the same problem, and would always use some nasal drops containing a corticosteroid(dexamethasone).
I started using too, when I was about 9 years old, then I went to a doctor, to confirm that it was safe, and the doctor told my father, that I could use the medication.
When I was 11 years old, my growth became slow, and I developed something called Cushing's Syndrome, which is caused by corticosteroid overuse. The long usage of corticosteroid stunted my growth for three years, it's a common effect.
I'm 5'5(165cm) and probably would be 5'10 without taking the medication. Also a study confirmed that genital development is also affected. I have a 5.5 - 6 inches penis when very aroused, and very thin, about 4.5 inches in girth. I think about this all the time, and I am dreaming of it every single night, dreaming about being rejected by a girl, because of my height and my thin penis. The worst thing is that I'm sure that my penis would be bigger and I would be taller, since even my doctor confirmed that I am right. Even short girls have height requirements.
A girl might not find me as attractive as she would, if I had a larger penis and was taller. This medication fucked my life. I don't want to whine, but this has been deeply affecting my life. And i'm also very shy, so these two more complexes are making my head explode. I need help.
I blame my mother for giving me that in the first place, because I was not meant to have to go through this. I was not meant to be naturally short and probaly would have a bigger penis. I read in an article about Lupus, that every single guy who took prednisone during puberty, had a smaller penis than healthy patients.
I keep thinking that every time that I will have sex, the girl is not looking at me, she is looking at a chemical induced result.
Please, I really need help. I have this haunting me since 2016, when I found out about the side effects.
If you search "iatrogenic cushing's syndrome nasal drops" several cases like mine will pop up.
What should I do? Just accept and live my life? Jesus, I was meant to be taller, stronger, since corticosteroids also affect bone development. What should I do? I think about this 24/7.
I think that maybe I would have a girthy penis, that would stimulate girls visually a lot, and keep comparing myself with other guys, thinking that I will be cheated on because of my thin penis. The worst thing is, THIS WAS CAUSED BY A FUCKING MEDICATION, JESUS. I KEEP THINKING THAT I WILL FOREVER BE MISSING OUT ON A LOT OF EXPERIENCES THAT I WOULD HAVE WITH A BIGGER PENIS, THAT I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE. AND TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE, SOME FAMILY FRIENDS TOLD MY PARENTS WHEN I WAS A BABY THAT I HAD A BIG PENIS FOR A INFANT. FUCK, MAYBE I WOULD HAVE A BIG PENIS. I AM RAGING.
Knowing everything short guys have to put up with, how the hell should I feel?
Prior research investigating the mate preferences of women and their parents reveals two important findings with regard to physical attractiveness. First, daughters more strongly value mate characteristics connoting genetic quality (such as physical attractiveness) than their parents. Second, both daughters and their parents report valuing characteristics other than physical attractiveness most strongly (e.g., ambition/industriousness, friendliness/kindness). However, the prior research relies solely on self-report to assess daughters’ and parents’ preferences. We assessed mate preferences among 61 daughter-mother pairs using an experimental design varying target men’s physical attractiveness and trait profiles. We tested four hypotheses investigating whether a minimum level of physical attractiveness was a necessity to both women and their mothers and whether physical attractiveness was a more important determinant of dating desirability than trait profiles. These hypotheses were supported. Women and their mothers were strongly influenced by the physical attractiveness of the target men and preferred the attractive and moderately attractive targets. Men with the most desirable personality profiles were rated more favorably than their counterparts only when they were at least moderately attractive. Unattractive men were never rated as more desirable partners for daughters, even when they possessed the most desirable trait profiles. We conclude that a minimum level of physical attractiveness is a necessity for both women and their mothers and that when women and their parents state that other traits are more important than physical attractiveness, they assume potential mates meet a minimally acceptable standard of physical attractiveness.
We evaluated five competing hypotheses about what predicts romantic interest. Through a half‐block quasi‐experimental design, a large sample of young adults (i.e. responders; n = 335) viewed videos of opposite‐sex persons (i.e. targets) talking about themselves, and responders rated the targets' traits and their romantic interest in the target. We tested whether similarity, dissimilarity or overall trait levels on mate value, physical attractiveness, life history strategy and the Big Five personality factors predicted romantic interest at zero acquaintance and whether sex acted as a moderator. We tested the responders' individual perception of the targets' traits, in addition to the targets' own self‐reported trait levels and a consensus rating of the targets made by the responders. We used polynomial regression with response surface analysis within multilevel modelling to test support for each of the hypotheses. Results suggest a large sex difference in trait perception; when women rated men, they agreed in their perception more often than when men rated women. However, as a predictor of romantic interest, there were no sex differences. Only the responders' perception of the targets' physical attractiveness predicted romantic interest; specifically, responders' who rated the targets' physical attractiveness as higher than themselves reported more romantic interest.
So, according to research and science, the "massive role" personality and confidence play in attracting women is... no role at all.
