This is like saying you lost 50 pounds and are only 10 pounds away fro your goal weight. You are so close it is upsetting you that you haven't reached it yet.

People that view things this way are the same ones who take things and people for granted.

The child would be observing and making an innocent comment. It is nothing to take to heart but the mother should have corrected the child instead of running away.
